Global From Asia is hiring! We are seeking a Chinese business development manager for our Shenzhen office. The role is a fast paced and dynamic position where you will work with Chinese and International business owners in the cross-border e-commerce community to help them grow their business.
We are a young and growing team that creates both online content in the form of podcasts, blogs, and videos as well as offline content in the form of events, business trips, and conferences. Starting in 2013 as a Hong Kong business podcast, we have grown to various media formats and covering Chinese and export ecommerce business.
What Is Your Normal Workday?
Starting at 930am, you will work alongside our founding team and prepare for the day ahead. Keeping on top of our current members of both Chinese and International ecommerce business owners and executives, you’ll check in with them on the latest news and events.
Morning time is normally content creation and marketing, where you will find new guests for the show, coordinate with previous guests, spread the news of our latest content to our network and beyond.
Afternoon we will have team meetings, partner, and/or member meetings. This can be in the form on doing a video interview (at our studio or at their office or offsite), a round table discussion, training session, or business development meeting. Your role is to ensure that the meetings are doing two things, 1 – adding benefit and engaging our member community, and 2- helping us grow our reach and funnel.
Between meetings and phone calls, you will be updating our CRM and ensuring that we are keeping members engaged, as well as sharing with them the latest events and opportunities in our community.
Certain evenings we will ask you to attend events, sometimes our own, other times other community events. The goal of attending these events is to meet the community and grow our brand and presence in the community.

As this is a “people facing” job position, we are not looking for the most technical skills, instead:
Firm grasp of Chinese and English language.
While we do welcome international candidates, most likely this would be a Chinese national.
Event organizing skills.
Have you organized events? What scale and what was your role in the event?
Event marketing skills.
have you promoted events? What strategies did you use? Was it for the international audience or Chinese audience?
Basic computer skills.
Such tools as google docs, Slack, Asana project management. We can teach you these rather quickly, but you should be comfortable using b
Wechat marketing.
personal accounts, Official accounts. We are willing to train you, but as much Wechat marketing experience you have will be a benefit and help set you apart.
Enjoying to deal with various personalities and cultures.
Over the years, Global From Asia has reached cultures across the globe. This person will enjoy talking to various cultures and personalities.
Creative thinking.
Because we are a growing community, opportunities are coming from various places and parts of the world. You will be dealing with incoming opportunities to open chapters in new cities, various sponsorship structures, and various new business deals. Ideally, your role would suggest to management if these new opportunities are feasible and attractive for Global From Asia, and add input and feedback on the structure.
A wide personal network in the ecommerce industry.
A definite plus, but if you have experience and a network in the e-commerce community, you will have an advantage in your job application.
Willingness to travel, in China and abroad.
As we grow, we need to have representation in events and meetings in various parts of China, Southeast Asia, and other countries as we grow. This job role would need to represent us when necessary.
Patience To Deal With Foreign Internet.
As this is a Shenzhen based job, you will sometimes have internet connectivity issues as we use many tools hosted outside of China. Your patience and positive mindset to use these tools is much appreciated.
Enjoy multi-tasking
We do many things here! You will be overwhelmed at times, and your ability to pick the right priority of tasks is essential.
What is the Offer?
This is a full time position in our Chinese company. You will get a full time employment contract with the proper insurance benefits of a Shenzhen based company. We will have a starting salary for your training period for two months and then a market rate salary plus bonus structure for our proven products and services. We will also be handing you over current active accounts and members to develop and grow the relationship with.
